Insight into a professional game reviewer
One of the reasons I've not bought Assassins Creed is because of the numerous negative reviews posted by professional game reviewers. Well, while trawling through the XBox forums I discovered a link to this page written by a reviewer on Penny Arcade which explains a theory behind those negative reviews... and it makes some good points. After reading this it kind of casts a shadow over game reviews because you really can't tell if the review is influenced by deadlines or not.
It's also interesting to read their advertising policy which, when you think about it, makes a lot of sense.

It does make good points but at the end of the day, I simply do not think I will have the patience to finish assassins creed. I like to play throuigh a game leisurly, maybe taking months or years to finish it and I don;t really want to pick up assassins creed again because it was so boring. I like jumping about and fighting guards but I'm not doing that for 30 hours!
should really say, I like that guys attitude and thanks for posting it! |
