Mountain Men Anonymous / The A Forest / Eye / Findo Gask - Thu 8th April - Drouthies
I know it's a wee while away but thought i better talk it up!
Drouthies, Thursday 8th April, 8:30PM, £2 entry. ![]() Mountain Men Anonymous The intense and volatile live experience that is Mountain Men Anonymous will be descending to Drouthie Neebors in Dundee, during a month-long UK tour in support of the Gloucester trio's astonishing new album Krkonose. Creating a truly terrifying wall of noise with guitar and primal drums, the band seem to find crescendos well after you think they’ve gone as mind-crushingly high as they possibly can. Yet amid all the fury there is an undeniable fragility and melancholy, evident in tracks like Finding Heart Through Pain and If All Else Fails. And some press quotes: 'one of the most spectacularly beautiful records of the year so far… With this record MMA will see themselves promoted to the post-rock premiership…9 / 10' Rock Sound (writing about Krkonose) ‘they take dynamite to dynamics with a rare brilliance.’ NME "A suitably mountainous sound, KKKK" Kerrang ‘the kind of band who prompt that little flip of the stomach when your head and body realise together that what they are experiencing is near-greatness.’ Big Issue Cymru www.mountainmenanonymous.com (You've got to love being sent press releases! )Completing the bill are: The A Forest Dundonian pop-post-rock shambling. "Melodic twinklecore". Influenced by the likes of American Analog Set, Sigur Ros, Low, Delgados, Boards Of Canada and Yo La Tengo if you're needing reference points. Might even have a new song for y'all, but the demo isn't finished so dont ask! www.theaforest.co.uk Eye Dundee hypnocore legends make their long awaited return to live action. Call it prog, call it post rock or just let it floor you. Will be worth the entry fee for Eye alone. www.eyemakemusic.co.uk Findo Gask Angelic Fifer space rock tykes. You all know them. You all love them. Imagine a 3 way punch up between early Idlewild, ...Trail of Dead and British Sea Power with rabid feral effects pedals thrown in for fun. Grrreat! The last important bit! It's in Drouthies, doors are at 8:30 and there is a door tax of £2. Probably over 18s too. Thanks for making it this far! Last edited by SuperMike! : 21st March 2004 at 02:25 PM.
