I think a panel of judges would be the best way, the first band on has the disadvantage of there being less people there. More crowd obviously = more votes and the more votes you get the more likely you are to go through. Whereas if there was a panel of judges they'd be there the whole time and have listened to all the bands. There could still be a crowd vote, and the judges could take this in to consideration but i think it would be much fairer with judges.

I was pleased with it - but then I

a) didn't pay for it

and

b) didn't deliberately set out to get a review in the NME.

In fact I didn't even know the NME had a copy of the record til the label rang me on the Tuesday night before it came out.

In short I didn't hop into bed with The Man (and pay for the privilidge) in the hope of getting some coverage for my band.

As for the guy who said that Hannay brought 'good press' to Dundee....their only review to date has slagged them to fuck.

I would be making music whether people were listening or not - I do it entirely for myself. I don't equate owning musical instruments and playing them with paying to enter a battle of the bands. How you can is truly beyond me.
