Before emergenza the most bereft had acheived was a whole load of rehersals. Living in the middle of nowhere atleast an hours journey from the venues we had to work damn hard to get a crowd there. We may not be the smoothest stage act yet but our hard work got us through the first and second rounds. Now we've played the venue and are booked to play the liquidroom. The money we made from selling our tickets has also funded our first demo.
So lets recap for £40 we have been given all the freebies two quality gigs with another on the way, the money for a demo and the experience that will help us to start gigging properly. So yeah fuck Emerenza! |

Not well it would appear. What point are you trying to make exactly? I work in an area of the Civil Service that exists PURELY to give money away...I also get paid pretty nicely to do it. How can that POSSIBLY be equated with paying to enter a Battle Of The Bands that is funded by a major label? Enlighten me please.....though I guess someone who is STILL harping on about a gig I played 2 years ago and can't spell his own user name correctly (evrything??) might not actually be able to. |

It is not funded but backed by record labels... you really should check all your facts before slagging off something you obviously know very little about... |

It's a really minor point to try and pick in that argument though. There is no similarity between Alex's job and Emergenca, to suggest so is rather ludicrous. |

Er...i didn't suggest there was any similarity! Must've been someone else.
As for your point on backing being just another name for funding, as I said, you really should check the facts. Emergenza receive absolutely no money whatsoever from the record labels. What Sony/Columbia do is judge at the Scottish, UK and International Finals and give a written critique to the bands involved making it worthwhile for all bands, whether they progress, or not. Also, Emergenza recommend bands they believe are worth checking out to the labels, whether they're in the finals, or not, hence Emergenza being a scouting agency for Columbia/Sony. |
