Hey,
First post here. I'm Ally Edward, Vice President of Abertay Union, in charge of entertainments. The new semester is starting for Abertay students in September and we are booking bands (from Dundee and otherwise) for regular rock/indie nights on the top floor of the Marketgait building, if you haven't been there before, it's the big building across the road from Fat Sams. Freshers' Fortnight is in September: starting on Sunday 12th and ending on Saturday 25th. We will be hosting alot of bands in these two weeks, but we won't stop there - we will be putting on regular band nights for months to come. If you are in a band and are interested in playing at Abertay Union give me an email or leave a post. Cheers. |

Have you spoken to Alan, Neil or Paul from the RocSoc about this at all?
They all post regularly here. It might be a good idea to get in touch with them. Last edited by SuperMike! : 29th July 2004 at 11:34 PM. Reason: Spelling |

Supermike - yes, I've talked to neil from RocSoc, nice bloke. He will no doubt be able to give me some input - make yourself known neil!
Lazzaro - email me with details of your band mate. Ta to everyone for their emails, there's been loads. Keep them coming - we are running regular band nights, hopefully every Friday night from September onwards... and we need all the bands we can get. |

The band nights at Abertay Union will be called 'Crash'.
We have many bands interested - if you want to be added to the list of bands who will be playing at Abertay Union on Fridays in the near future - gimme an email on a.edward@abertay.ac.uk |

Lazzaro - Abertay Union will be working hand in hand with Roc Soc in putting on good bands at the Union. Neil, Alan and the rest of Roc Soc have always been great at that. A lot of effort is going to be put into 'Crash' to make it work, and most importantly of all: keeping it going for months to come.
Friday music nights at the Marketgait Union will not simply be a practice for the new Union - we are going to make the top floor of our current Union a popular music venue that will be enjoyed by Abertay students and anyone else who is enthusiastic about young musical talent. |

Hey people!
We have filled slots for almost 7 weeks worth of music nights! The response has been simply spectacular - thank you everyone who has shown an interest at playing at Abertay Union in the very near future. To finish off our Freshers' Fortnight (at least for bands) we are needing just four more bands: 1.) 1 band to play popular rock/indie covers (& then some of your own stuff) for a fun theme night we are hosting at Abertay Union (probably on the 13th/14th of September) 2.) 3 bands to play at Jumpin Jaks for the Freshers' Ball (basically a formal), in which you can show your skills on the brilliant Jaks main stage which hosted 'The Drifters' a few weeks ago (probably on the 20th/21st of September) The address as ever is a.edward@abertay.ac.uk if you want to play at one of these dates. Check out the temporary front page of the NEW! Abertay Union Website for more details of whats going to be happening in Freshers' Fortnight. Thanks again for all your interest people - great forum this! P.S. How'd you like the new Abertay Union logo? Last edited by redfox : 24th August 2004 at 12:05 AM. |
