Forthcoming Gigs
Here are the forthcoming gigs......
23rd of September - Owsley Sunshine, The Tone Deaf Amigos and Amy Hits The Atmosphere. Balcony Bar, Ward Road. Owsley Sunshine and The Tone Deaf Amigos are from Lincoln and are on tour together. The following has been said of Owsley Sunshine - "A subtle blend of uplifting basslines, infectious chanted chorus and tripping keyboard samples working to intensely elevating effect," Drownedinsound.com "Owsley are an inventive fusion of organ and guitars not pandering to the three minute pop song. The tunes are creative and memorable. Needless to say the future is distinctly bright and multi-coloured…Record companies be aware!†- Dave Fielding – Guitarist for Geffen recording artists The Chameleons, and producer of the Inspiral Carpets. 24th of September - Lianne Hall and the Broken Heart Club, Caroline Martin, Bela, Thee Moths and Uncle Fritz. Number One's, Ward Road. Lianne Hall “Lianne Hall is one of my favourite singers, her voice is an improbable blend of warm dusty cool and her songs evoke the promise of spring and the taste of mint juleps on scorched summer afternoons.†SUZANNE RHATIGAN, CUSHY PRODUCTIONS, LONDON 2002 “…it’s rare to hear someone who can silence a room within a few bars of an opening tune and Lianne Hall does it with every song. Her music is like sleeping under a feather duvet on a bed of nails and the audience are entranced for the duration…†THE BRIGHTON SOURCE, 2001 "One of the great british voices" - John Peel Caroline Martin ![]() Bela "Bela Emerson constantly strives to explore the potential and extend the boundaries of the cello’s place in contemporary music. Passionate and exciting, both musically and visually, she captivates audiences with her unique improvised performances on electric cello with loops and effects." - press release Thee Moths and Uncle Fritz you know all about! 1st of October - Cartwheel, Lipsick! and possibly [Box] - Number One's, Ward Road Cartwheel are an australian electropop duo who are well loved on the International Pop Underground. 6th of October - Thanksgiving, Good Time John, Thee Moths and possibly Otterley. Number One's, Ward Road Thanksgiving "Thanksgiving is basically this kid Adrian Orange and his own take of Oldham like American pastoral music. It’s soft, delicate and has also been compared to Conor Oberst of Bright Eyes (and Winona Ryders current squeeze), which is a fair point I guess but Orange has his own charms. He’s been performing since he was ten and in that time has picked up a fair bit of songwriting nous. On We Could Be Each Other's Evidence, he enlists the help of some musical buddies and the results are no less impressive. From the opening track, "Before You Died," to the closing "Family Shield," the album moves along at a nice unrushed pace that allows the listener to savour the soft vocals and reflect on the day they’ve had at school, the office or locked down in solitary confinement." www.vitvitrecords.com- Tim Scott "While living in Portland, OR, Thanksgiving was the only band that could get me out of the house. Adrian Orange posesses a singular, extraordinary talent that fades in and out throughout the album. A new sound emerging from the bedroom shows and unfinished songs of the Pacific Northwest. It's simplicity without medioctity. It's solemn, without being melancholy. Adrian Orange displays the rare gift of intensity, without drama. Enjoy this release and await the spectacular that is sure to follow". - s. finch All these gigs are FREE and will be wonderful. Do NOT miss them. |

All three of the touring artists on the 24th have done multiple Peel Sessions I feel I should add.
These gigs are going to be totally trancendent. |

It is a different Owsley Sunshine. You are thinking of The Owsley Sunshine from Glasgow and fronted by Joe Kane.
The band playing on the 23rd is from Lincoln and are a totally different band. |
