Low Tech und Atomgevitter aus Glesgae - Sunday 16th January

Mick and Alice (for want of a better moniker) present:

LOW TECH
Do exactly what they say on the tin, Gluecifer-style garage rock from darkest Germany featuring the Rev Kettenhoond of Atomgevitter on guitar for the last time! I couldn't dig out any mp3s, only some stuff on Real Audio that was recorded back in 1999:
http://irb.cs.tu-berlin.de/~uwp/cdaudio.html

ATOMGEVITTER
Glasgow thrash uber alles! DS-13 vs. Heresy action, all shall perish in their midst
www.atomgevitter.tk

GREASE MONKEYS
Good time jams from this Bronx Cheer-approved crew, scuzzy rock'n'roll assault with added lipstick. Nae internet presence though, so you'll just have to take our word for it

AVANTI
Debut Glasgow show for this Galashiels punk outfit, Lookout! worship with added brass and ska breaks. Highly unfashionable, but it's still much more fun than test pressings and screamo reunion tours.

Black (35 - 41 Queen Street), Glasgow
Sunday 16th January
Doors 8.30pm £5 tax

I'll finish doodling up the flyer and post it soon. Everyone is obliged to attend as this is Alice and I's first attempt at doing gigs together, if you don't turn up then we'll break into your house in the middle of the night and steal your Usurp records.

BUMP! we may be doing a punk rock raffle (read: useless junk) at this if we can dig out enough worthless stuff from our respective vaults, so that should be more incentive to come out! Alice says she'll get some home-baking on the go too - misfortune cookies complete with razorblades will be posted out to the houses of those who do not attend.

*FURTHER UPDATE*

We cannae be arsed with the punk rock raffle antics, but there will still be cookies (vegan friendly). Also, Lummox have been added to the bill - the arrival of their swamp jazz means that doors will now be at 8.00pm and the first band will start around 8.15pm. Door price remains the same.

Bad news.

I got a phone call this afternoon from Black asking me if I had bands booked with my function. I said yes, to which I was told I would have to cancel the bands as management has told them they don't want bands anymore. I was going to work at that point and didn't want to spend time arguing on the phone, so I said I'd be in to speak to them after I'd finished my shift.

I go in and speak to the guy, who tells me that management don't want bands as previous experiences have "not been worthwhile" in relation to having an extra member of staff on. Now I don't know if this is just me, but I find this ridiculous - in terms of bands alone you already get 16 extra punters, and on top of that you're expecting at least 20 people to show face too. He said something about "8 people watching bands and not buying drinks", again something I think's a bullshit story but at this point he was practically shoving the deposit back in my hand.

I'm trying to sort out a venue at the moment, went into RGs a few doors up and they seemed to think it's plausible. I had a look round the function room, got given the phone number and told to call tomorrow and ask for the manager - fingers crossed we get this, and fingers crossed that Black gets a fucking missile through it's window.

That's ridiculous - they've only realised they don't want to put on bands three days before the gig? Arseholes.

Did you not think to try somewhere else after the last time?
