Sat 9th April: TAINT, ULTIMODRAGON, ART OF BURNING WATER, FRIDAY NIGHT GUNFIGHT
ALL ABOUT THE RIFFS PRESENTS A NIGHT OF MONSTER RIFFS!
SATURDAY, 9TH APRIL @ THE 13TH NOTE, GLASGOW, KING ST, £5. TAINT Taint hail from Swansea and recently enjoyed their tenth anniversary of providing the world with heavy riffs. Now set to embark on a European tour and split 7” with Army of Flying Robots, this will be the last night of two weeks of Taint gigs round the UK and Europe, so expect it to be tight yet wild. Heavy rock with vocals that hold a tune but stay powerful and aggressive. Not cheery like most stoner rock, they are more influenced by Neurosis and hardcore than Fu Manchu. Long drawn out, melodic, and uplifting jams akin to Kyuss with heavy parts like Iron Monkey. A rare appearance up north, they shall surely rock hard. http://www.taint.co.uk/ ART OF BURNING WATER From London and currently on tour with Taint. Totally rocking stuff that is reminiscent of early Clutch, Botch and other stuff on Hydrahead. They’ve recently released a split with American Heritage and Foe on House of Stairs records. Quality rock with more interesting influences, which means you can headbang and stroke your chin simultaneously. http://www.artofburningwater.co.uk/ ULTIMO DRAGON Former heavy rock champions, UD disappeared following a catastrophic onstage wrestling match, which saw frontman Dangerous Derek Brown and the now Snowblood axe-man pulverise each other. The tempo is that of pumping garage rock but the riffs are closer to Black Sabbath and The Jesus Lizard. Think Eyehategod if they took less smack and drank more booze. No one knows if they are back for good or just a one-off burnout. FRIDAY NIGHT GUNFIGHT Edinburgh lads, including members of IX play a combination of Isis style clean build-ups and Converge style metalcore. They haven’t played Glasgow yet but expect it to be epic at times and crushing at others. http://www.fridaynightgunfight.co.uk Last edited by Tobin : 5th April 2005 at 02:41 PM. |

Edit - oh, I had downloaded the new demo track. I checked their site and a song from this split was on it, it's sounding better. Last edited by TGO : 25th March 2005 at 12:41 PM. |

Steve was trying to explain to me the riffage of the dragon last week with so much enthusiasm he sounded like a little boy on christmas day.
I will try and be in attendance to witness. Please tell me its not riff after riff after motherfuckin riff! |
