The Plot to Blow Up the Eiffel Tower + Mesa Verde - Sun May 1st @ Sleazies
CONTROVERSIAL!!! Haven't seen a thread for this yet and since we're playing it I may as well.
The Plot To Blow Up The Eiffel Tower Mesa Verde GLASGOW; Nice'n'Sleazies Doors 8PM, Entry £6.00 The Plot To Blow Up The Eiffel Tower are sassy and brassy emo rock on Happy Couples Never Last records, with a solid album already out in "Dissertation, Honey" and plenty of new material to confirm their quality despite new album coming out on the cum dumpster of hardcore labels "Revelation". Website is www.blowuptheeiffeltower.com Mesa Verde (try to) make emotionally driving music with plenty of post-rock parts to break up the raw harsh screamy punk rock. Often compared to seminal Japanese emo band Envy if that helps. Recently described as "probably the only band in Scotland right now that comes anywhere near doing the “emo” tag justice." to the delight of all concerned. Website is www.mesaverde.co.uk although there is only gig dates on there. We're playing our first gig in Dundee during the week before this! |

Oh and I just want to say, I know this is not a DIY gig and we're totally aware of ALL the factors that might lead you to question us playing this. It wasn't an easy choice and it did come down to a band vote, but despite this I've always wanted to be able to play to as many different people as possible and not limitting ourselves to people who think the way we do.
As far as who we're playing with, musically not my favourite but from what I've read of the controversary surrounding them, I'm inclined to side with the band... I really do not see the fuss. But needless to say, I don't expect to see many familiar faces at this one! Heh. |

You gonna play in the scud like them?
We need to send youngy front and centre during their set to pre-empt any shenanigans from them, they cannae come to glasgow and think they can annoy us. |

I think it is a case of Rev throwing worse money after bad... I mean there latest band is some proper electo sass shite. Plus they don't even do vinyl anymore... Revelation CD's rather than Rev Records.
I still love revelation, at one point I was buying stuff just because it was on Rev... that logo was a good guideline for me and to this day... Elliott, Texas is the Reason, Kiss It Goodbye, Judas Factor, Farside, Speak 714, Fall Silent, Will Haven and so on are still fucking crucial bands. That half of the catalgoue from Monroe Doctrine onwards is fucking sick... just a shame the other half of it was a sign of what the label was to become Rev up #68 = Mostly Gold, Mostly not aged well Rev #69 - #98 = Some fucking classics. Rev #99 Onwards = Gold Sovvies (except for fall silent and elliott) That isn't even getting into crisis and half releases!! |

Aye. It did come down to a band *cough* vote, about whether or not to play this and we decided to do it. I listened to a few mp3's and am not really a fan to say the least.
Just noticed. SIX QUID!!!!!!! this is the dearest gig we've ever played. I wouldnt pay £6 to see this band so please don't feel as though you have to come to show face!! As long as everyone is out for ADIBAW, Transistor Transistor or Molia Falls!!!! |
