Well, as a promoter myself (and not one who has any interest in this gig, I'm just making a general comment) it does make sense to me... It's Glasgow and Edinburgh we're talking about and it's very easy for punters to travel and catch a gig in whichever city it's on. This means if a promoter gets offered a show which is meant to be exclusive to either Edinburgh or Glasgow, they know they can count with extra punters travelling through when they make their offer... If that's part of the contract with the booking agent, it makes sense that any other show arranged for later should not be advertised until after the gig - otherwise it could mean someone being out of pocket because punters decide to wait till the later gig.

Fair point, but i don't think it holds much significance here. Firstly many bands the Queers size, or bigger, can play gigs in Edinburgh and Glasgow without any real effect to traveling custom. Its all to do with promotion with gigs like this. For example, this specific tour has shows in England in towns far smaller and closer together than Glasgow and Edinburgh with only days seperating them (not 4 weeks). Also I don't believe there was any "exclusive" nature to this show with an Aberdeen show going ahead and at one point even a Dundee show was being discussed with the booking agent. As for advertising prior to the glasgow show, well there wasn't any, except for one thread on this board which is almost completley used by people based around Dundee. It all sounds rather suspect to me. But i won't speculate, enough has already happened what with the Edinburgh show having to get cancelled and a pal of mine being out of a job.

and steve, seriously, why the fuck do you keep whining on about this? you dont like the queers, you dont want to go to the show, so just fuck off and leave your useless comments out of it. its mind-numbingly boring. also, who is to say that was a name drop? why does everything have to be a name-drop with Andy? simply cos he's in The Dangerfields, who, in most respects, are still a DIY band? why can't he make a passing comment about a band he likes and someone he knows in reply to a friend of his comments?

the answer is probably because you're being a fucking prick to be honest.

it's like if I was talking to a friend about a band that they mentioned they were playing with in a few weeks or something and I said somehting like "oh yeah, played with *whoever* in *wherrever*. they're really nice guys" it would have fuck all to do with "name-dropping", its a fucking comment, one I'd hope you'd keep your fucking views about to yourself were it not any of your fucking concern.
