Magdalena are a bit indie, a bit rock, a bit MBV with rock dudes on guitars and tubs and girlie vox.

The whole Sometree tour got cancelled which is a bit of a stinker as I was really looking forward to seeing them again after Carlin tried to squeeze them and Appleseed Cast into my pokey 1 bed partick flat several years ago then! Remember that Steve? And then you buggered off back to EK? :P

It still should be a great show though. I'm really interested to see Magdalena after listening to a bunch of their songs. Based on the songs I've heard, the femme vox range from the likes of Ida and The Sundays to a less squeeky Nina Persson of The Cardigans. Musically They shift between twinkly indie instrumental movements not too far removed from Elliott very Sundays-tinged indie-rock. However, I'm told that they do get much fiercer live. Very interesting.

They certainly got more "fierce" after Russell form Black Sun, Lee from Opaque and myself played an improvised jazz/doom/noise set before them a few weeks back - ooofffff.
