Life at these speeds/Science of Yabra/Snowblood/Mon 19/09 Studio 24, Edinburgh
Cold Dead Hands Present their 2nd Birthday Party:
Life At These Speeds (USA) “Every now and again (approximately once a year) a band comes along that makes an absolutely stunning emo LP that completely blows me away… Life at These Speeds join that pantheon with this release…LaTS deal in tightly wound grooves and passionately cried vocals, building songs up with a deft and inspired touch. On each song the guitars twist and turn whilst propelled through the wall by the drums and bass. There are so many moments of utter perfection…Life at These Speeds are too good. Seriously. Way too good.” -collective-zine From Portland, Oregon. No matter how many bad mall-emo bands plaster themselves over myspace, singing gibberish about razorblades, dark eyes and butterflies, there will always be those who carry the true spirit of the genre burning deep in their chests. http://www.killingcupid.net/lats.html Science Of Yabra (USA) “Take the more frantic bits of DIVE LIKE JEHU and HOT SNAKES, crank the volume ten-fold and make the vocals just a bit more aggressive, and you have SCIENCE OF YABRA nailed. The music is executed perfectly and the charging fury of each and every song never lets up. Not only is SCIENCE OF YABRA easily accessible to fans of the aforementioned bands, they are also knee-deep in a more heavy hardcore sound (say,HEROIN) that would undoubtedly appeal to people of a more "hardcore" persuasion. Clearly this is not an accident. A fucking great record and perfect for one of those early morning "wake the fuck up" tapes” -Maximum Rock and Roll (Aug 2003) Kick out the Jams motherfuckers. http://www.scienceofyabra.com/ Snowblood (Glasgow) T.B.C Snowblood return to the capital at the end of their UK tour with their second album “being and becoming” (CD out in the next few weeks on Lawgiver Records/Super-fi, double vinyl later in the year). The progression is definite and anyone who’s witnessed the blood’s titanic live sound will know their already broad range is stretched even further on this release. Simply put Snowblood kill the competition dead, this is one of the best records you’ll hear this year. Monumental heaviness contrasted with serene stillness. This will be your last chance to see Snowblood in the capital for at least six months. http://www.dextro.co.uk/snowblood/ Fall of Boss Koala(Dundee) Making their first apperance at a CDH hands shindig following line up changes. Moving away from hopesfall-esque metalcore into a much more rich, textured epic hardcore style practiced by the likes of Funeral Diner. http://www.myspace.com/thefallofbosskoala Monday 19th September Studio 24, Calton Road Doors 7.30pm £5 over 14+s Tape Swap: Bring a CDR, tape, Minidisk, swap with someone else- discover new bands. As this is our 2nd Birthday, its hoped that we’ll be giving away a special Compilation CDR of bands who’ve played at our shows. There’ll also be more stupidity as we think of it. More details to follow. Last edited by Kingmob : 12th August 2005 at 03:55 PM. |
