Perth Express, In Decades Decline, By My Hands, XX, 27/09/05
Cold Dead Hands Presents
Perth Express (Germany) Brutal German hardcore, they opened last year's SummerSlam and were pretty jaw dropping. Here's a review of their last record off Collective Zine: "This is an absolutely exceptional bunch of blazing metallic hardcore songs from this German band. Brutal without being bone-headed, fast without it becoming a pointless blur, and, most of all, varied without losing any of its relentless, adrenalising, fist-pumping momentum. You can spot the influences – take a bit of Botch, a bit of Mörser, a bit of Uranus and so on – but it has all been combined to make something quite incredible. There is some vicious playing on display, especially from the drummer, whose flair for the double-kick really rockets these devastating slabs of riffing along. So much happens so quickly without the flow being disrupted that the overall effect is quite overwhelming and utterly wonderful." www.perthexpress.de In Decades Decline(Edinburgh) If you need to ask by now... crushing, metal influenced hardcore, like a Slayerised His Hero Is Gone, or Integrity without the occult fixation. Edinburgh's finest hardcore band ever. MP3s at: www.lawgiverrecords.co.uk By My Hands(TBC)(Glasgow) Death metal infused hardcore from Glasgow, not a million miles from the likes of Heaven Shall Burn or Shattered Realm, making their Edinburgh debut. Expect some brutal MOSH. www.myspace.com/bymyhands Caliber XX Screamy metalcore from Tayside, influenced by the likes of Converge. Again, this is their first Edinburgh gig. www.xxrock.co.uk Tuesday 27th September Studio 24 Calton Rd Edinburgh over 14s, £5 Bring a mix for the swap box. |
