nah, i don't doubt that neil is a good cunt. He done our first protex recording for us and shit man, he's a good guy. It will be taken the wrong way by plenty of people though....i guess you'd just have to ask him..find out how he's gonna work it out.
im thinking it's a split thing by all the bands. they all cover the cost of hiring the westie and pa (do you need to hire a pa for the westie?) and then any extra cash gets divided up at the end of the night between them all.

I have nothing bad things to say to all, but I'm smart enough not shoot myself in the foot. £85 for the PA and Stuart, plus £25 for the bar. Plus a £10 for flyers we haven't managed to get because bands are dicking us around...

So there...I really do know what I'm doing. Obviously there are many clueless people in the world.

Dude ...we never ribbed ya !!....dunno where ya got that one from....and as for the bands dicking you around....well thats coz bands dinna wanna pay to play...we spend enough money on practices , equipment...and 4 what...to play a few lame ass pub gigs and get paid jack shit ??.....
at the end of the dqay...speculating to accumulate is kool...as long as theres a light at the end of the tunnel....but asking 4 £30:00 just to play is rediculous.....unless you're taking it as a deposit to make sure they show...an then refunding them after they've played !!

this is why you go to a promoter instead of putting it on yourself. can't get a gig with any local promoters? get back to the practise room.

you only need to pay stu after the gig after you've stopped charging. unless you look like sausages and don't appear trustworthy

that's usually the idea behind it, but doesn't pan out as organiser/promoter can never garauntee bands gettin paid. it's like communism, good in theory, doesn't pan out in practice. it's also annoying the way ppl promote p2p like bad sales men, like some shitty pyramid scheme.

I think the only people that put on p2p gigs are people whom are scared they winna pull the crowd and make the chings to cover expenses
if you aint willing to take the risk and cut yir losses you aint fit to promote in my books !!

the only thing remotly like pay to play that i would agree with is: say for example my band omar want to gig in arbroath but outside of beat generator for whatever reason. we would ask bands to play with us, or look for bands that are in the same situation as us and organise a sorta... ok, we will pay for the hire of the place, you guys make fyleys and posters and (other) guys can sort out the equipment. that sorta works out as everyone doing something and you have all gained the right to say that it was your own gig.

but if i was doing it by myself (outwith the band) and i didn't have enough money i would scrap the plans until i did. as it seems antivirus should.
