Active Minds, Cobra The Enemy and T.R.I.B.E - Fri 14th Oct - Captain's Rest
What Lies Ahead presents proper punk, not art wank:
Active Minds 20 years in the game and still thrashing hard, Set and Bob return to Scotland for the first time in ages. Many would argue that this is the band that took off from where Crass stopped, totally uncompromising both musically and in their DIY ethics. I can't find any mp3s online so you'll just have to hit up Soulseek, but expect an aural assault somewhere between early 90s UK hardcore like Sedition/Disaffect and Dropdead. Cobra The Enemy Still reeling at Atomgevitter selling out? Not getting those test presses on Ebay? Look no further for salvation my friend, Cobra The Enemy is upon us. Just as thrashing as the Gevitterjugend (with whom they share members), albeit more chaotic - think Vitamin X or What Happens Next. T.R.I.B.E Ex-Scatha and Fastard noiseniks from up North playing their first Glasgow gig. We caught up with this lot up in Elgin and were suitably impressed, they've got the familiar mid-paced crunch of Scatha but with more of a sludge influence. http://www.t-r-i-b-e.tk Friday 14th October Captains Rest (185 Great Western Rd) Doors 8.30pm £4 Entry Click for a map here , it's next to the St. George's Cross Underground so easy enough to get to. We'll try and finish things up for 11.00pm so that everyone can get back into town for last trains/buses. |

Captains Rest Map Link
Captains Rest Great Western Road Glasgow G4 9EB I think I saw Active Minds in the 13th note, when they were last through here when I was a toddler. Look forward to seeing them again. I'm sure I've got some of their records hidden in my non alphabetised collection somewhere. |

Hey man, it's St. George's Cross Underground station that you get off at. It's where Great Western and Maryhill Road meet, the Captain's Rest is just up from there:
http://www.multimap.com/clients/gif....&panx=0&pany=0 So stay on the left hand side going up Great Western Road and you should see it fairly quickly, only two minutes away. The closest undergrounds to the main train stations in the city centre are St. Enoch's (Glasgow Central) and Buchanan Street (Queen Street). Hope that's awright for ya! |
