Glasgow Implodes All Dayer 23rd Oktober
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- GLASGOW IMPLODES 2005 Stereo, Kelvinhaugh Street // Sunday 23rd October 2005 // £5 all day ticket An all-dayer of some of the UK's most forward-thinking experimental talent: MARZURAAN - All-out drone rock, psychedelic yet powerfully structured; as if Earth were around in the early days of SST UTER - Amazing resonating electronic music, bringing to mind everyone from Kraftwerk to New Order to My Bloody Valentine, while never sounding like any of them. Essential live listening! THE LOW MIFFS - Hard-gigging youngsters from Glasgow, taking the post-punk template and blowing it away entirely. Destined for great things, live shows are legendary! BLACK SUN - Now a full band; slow, knuckle-dragging sludge with an experimental edge. In a field of their own: you won't like it. KYLIE MINOISE - One-man noise attack aktion. Performances usually last around 5 minutes ending with smashed microphones, bruised body parts and shredded vocal chords. CULVER - "a one-man juggernaut of drone, reverb and fuzz". Possibly the best proponent of minimalist drone around today; genius experiments into pitch and tone. ACID IS GROOVY KILL THE PIGS - Eerie dirge trio creating ominous and unsettled atmospheres. Could soundtrack your funeral! ROMANCE - One-man harsh, harsh noise. Expect to be unrelentlessly pummeled into submission and then spend the next few hours wondering what planet you're on. Earplugs essential. NOMA - Static, drone and feedback utilising household objects as a small orchestra. Sometimes meditative, sometimes evil! CHILDREN - Off-kilter, unpredictable looping rhythms offset by female spoken word. Dynamic and challenging. NACKT INSECTEN - Nasty feedback drone project with slowly shifting walls of mesmerizing texture and tone. TETSUO - Minimalist improv; rhythmic backbone with wordless vocals. Like King Crimson being covered by Burzum, without bass, guitar, or someone who knows how to sing. THE WHISKY WORKS - New young Glasgow band playing emotive post-hardcore in the style of mid-period Touch And Go Records. Bring to mind Virginia legends Kepone. _________________ Shaving my body, oiling my skin in the dark. Pressups and whisky, my friend |

Doors around three-ish, first band on AFTER THAT TIME. If everyone's on the ball, half three.
![]() It's not all improvised noise! Actually, there are only two noise acts playing, and they're doing five minute sets each. The tunes are there, seek 'em out! |
