The Last Mile, Iron Cage, I Stand Alone, Wardead @ Studio 24, Thurs 27/10/05
Cold dead hands present…..
The Last Mile (Holland) They put something in the water in the Netherlands. They must do, at least that’s the only reason we can think of to explain the never ending stream of amazing hardcore bands pouring out of the place; Shikari, Barnhouse Effect, Cathode, Seeing Red, Makiladoras, Mihoen, Tempers Rise, Los Assesinos de la Superficialidad, Fleas and Lice…. The Last Mile are the latest in a long line of incredible, passionate, sincere hardcore bands to come out of Groningen. Anyone who finds their fancy tickled by hardcore very much in the heavy-vein is gonna get a lot out of this. Crushing nihilistic mayhem comparable to His Hero is Gone or maybe Uranus. www.thelastmile.tk Iron Cage (Holland) EMO could well make a claim to be the most understood of genres. Where as in the past bland, uninspiring castrated, rock music for the cerebrally challenged had to make do with boring terminology like “brit rock” or “grunge-lite” as a suitable call sign, these days they can all be EMO together. The kids are too stupid/lazy/gullible to know or care otherwise. Groningen’s Iron Cage however were obviously paying attention circa the mid 90’s to the output of labels like Gravity and Ebullition. Inspired by bands like Merel and Heroin. Thick, dark, frantic hardcore, smashing bloodied fists against your ear drums and screaming for someone, anyone to put them out of this misery. This is emotional hardcore. You can’t have one without the other. www.ironcage.tk I Stand Alone Four piece straight edge punk rock from Scotland. It does exactly what it says on the tin. Emphasis on the speed and plenty of melody. A must see for fans of Pennywise or Lifetime.+ www.istandalone.co.uk Wardead One of the recurrent problems in selling Crust bands to you, the gig going public, is their reliance on obscure Eastern European bands as influences. So when it comes to describing Wardead, the latest band to venture fourth from Edinburgh’s House of Crust we’ll just bypass any martyrdöd or skitsystem comparisons. Just know this. Without Ambeix modern heavy music would not exist. Wardead are angry, heavy and with the dual male female vocals you could even say it was reminiscent of Crass! Raging. Thursday 27th October Studio 24 7.30 £5 Cold Dead Hands Mix Tape Swap Box in effect. Last edited by Kingmob : 13th October 2005 at 05:13 PM. |
