Stars Kill / Magdalena / We Are The Physics live
Sunday, 23rd October at the 13th Note (50-60 King Street, Glasgow)
STARS KILL - http://www.stars-kill.net Steve Albini once called my good self on what is now known as the telephone and proceeded to tell me of the day he and David Yow of the Jesus Lizard went to Gregg's for some YumYums. Apparently, Justin Trosper of Unwound had a shift there that day and would only sell them baps, as nothing else was ready. An incensed Yow pulled his cock out and slapped it firmly in a bap; asking Trosper if he thought 'that was ready'. Three minors were present in Gregg'?s that very day and they were transformed by the above experience; running home to form Stars Kill. Hurrah. MAGDALENA - http://www.magdalenaband.co.uk I remember back in '91 when Thurston Moore was bankrupt and he had to sell some of his precious records to pay those fat cats in Washington. See, thing is, he couldn't bear to part with his lovely My Bloody Valentine and Blonde Redhead 45's and was often heard weeping in the bathroom while he played both bands at once on his Amstrad double turntable de-luxe. This very sound is what Magdalena have been seeking to recreate ever since that fateful day. Hurrah. WE ARE THE PHYSICS - http://www.wearethephysics.com Way back when French Kiss records were a bit good, Ex Models and Thunderbirds Are Now! had a fight over lunch money in the playground. After a long struggle, whilst a chubby youth hummed some Devo in the background, the aforementioned lunch money fell onto the ground and We Are The Physics were born. Hurrah. These stories and more shall be retold at 9PM. Admission is £2.00. |
