Want to book a gig?

The Globe (Westport, Dundee) will be holding band nights every second Sunday (January onwards, perhaps before if there is a lot of interest soon) and also an accoustic night every Tuesday.

I shall be The Man organising the band nights, so if you or your band would like to play then post here or contact me and we'll get a date booked.

So far we only have a PA (with speakers) - I will check out the specs tomorrow and update this post later. I should be there every band night so will be available to operate the mixer if necessary.

Bands will be expected to bring their own amps, drum kit etc. (Unless all goes well and there is a lot of interest, in which case we may be able to convince the brewery to let us buy some house equipment.)

As far as styles go we're open to pretty much anything, this has nothing to do with my band or my personal taste - it's a work thing.

Can't really think of anything else to put down here as it's not started yet, so any questions - post 'em here.

Just so we're clear, I'm not a promoter - just the guy taking the bookings. There will be no money changing hands. If there are any gigs with a door charge (which will be agreed with me) the money goes to the person booking the gig, to distribute as they wish.

Support bands will be up to the band/person booking the gig, I'll help out wherever possible but I can't guarantee that I'll be able to find supporting acts. Same with flyers/posters - if you don't supply them I'll make my own - but you should probably do it yourself.

this sounds good man! would it be possible for you to book the middens a date?
possibly about january? that be cool if so cos we're tryin to just build up some steady gigs before we fuck off in may (ish) to do a tour.

Shouldn't be a problem. I'll speak to the gaffer tomorrow and see when exactly we're kicking things off. I'll get back to you and we can talk support/dates.

Also - if you have any upcoming Dundee gigs let me know so I can pop along and checketh thou out.

Aye. Phil told me about it today - apparently you're booked in for 11/12 (this will be the first band night). Phil and I are coming to your P.O. gig on thursday, will most likely speak to you then.

Checked out your tracks on myspace, it pains me to say this but I don't think I can book you yet. We've just taken over The Globe recently and are wanting to streamline the introduction of bands as best as possible. Unfortunately, until all the regular customers are aware of the band nights the manager doesn't want anything too heavy as there is only one bar and there is a good chance that your brand of beastingness will scare off some of our punters. I personally would like any bands to play, but unfortunately it's a business thing and may take some time before we can integrate anything too aggressive. Sorry dude, but it's not my call. The sooner we get the ball rolling the better cos I want my band gigging there too.

Yeah, a covers band would be fine. What sorta stuff do you play?
