you are right, i would rather sit at home with a book and some aural pain provided by Immortal... but I wouldn't be the one singing vapid songs about a revolution they will never bring.

sorry, I'd have stuck up for Against Me! until recently. BUT: they didn't need to go through a booker like Helter Skelter. The whole weight of the UK DIY community would have been behind them and the fact that they're touring europe on the diy and not the uk really, really saddens me.

The reason this band were so good is that they walked the talk so to speak. That's why I happily forked out 50 quid fo a taxi to get home from their first Scottish show. Now they are NO different to any shitty so called punk band.

Fuck Against Me. Role on This Bike is a Pipe Bomb.

Anyway, besides anything else the new record was shite......

Right, there's nothing that I can say that'll make one bit of difference to how you guys see it and, aye, I can see where you're coming from and totally understand it. However, Fat isn't a 'major major' in the same way as RCA (see Anti-Flag). Yes, I can see the whole 'Rock For Sustainable Capitalism' angle to the whole debate and, yes, it upsets and disappoints me but I have a deep-rooted love of Against Me and have never seen them live. That's while I'll be going. Plus, we may get a chance to talk to them and pose some questions. Not that we'll get any answers I guess.

I am fully prepared for the punk rock flames that are coming my way...

PS - Screwdriver fucking suck. There's nothing punk about hatred and racism. Nothing punk about Against Me either, right?

Romper Stomper is a film ABOUT racism, Screwdriver are a band who PROMOTE racism. Two completely different things.

as an aside on the screwdriver thing, they weren't always a nazi band as I understand it and I know a few older punk guys who still listen to the earlier material. I've never listened to any of it as the band is forever tarred with that association to me. But: I had an enduring love for Bad Brains from the moment I heard them. I still enjoy their records despite the homophobia expressed by some members of the band at certain points in their existance.
