Resistance, Box Set + Solar - Fri 27th Jan
![]() Feedback Friday 27th January Farmers Arms Lancaster 8pm to 1am £4 (£3.50 AMS members) THE RESISTANCE The Resistance use a mixture of electronic bass and percussion, samples, analogue noise and electric, creating anything from heavy, pulsing walls of sound to sparkling melodies of guitars and electronics. It’s described as a mixture of brutality, religion and dance beats. Influences include The Velvet Underground, Throbbing Gristle, The Future Sound of London, The Jesus and Mary Chain, Neu! and Autechre. They are just as interested in film and design and gigs are always accompanied by their own video/lightshow. A Resistance gig is a shock of light and noise, quite unlike anything else. THE BOX SET The Box Set are a Casio-core orgasmopop duo based in Sheffield. They are Richey "The Killer" Khrushchev from Russia and Jacky Knife. The Box Set concern themselves with mixing together pop music, casio/yamaha keyboards from 1981-95 and sexually explicit lyrics. They tout themselves as "Ladytron on love eggs after a shopping spree in Argos and Poundland". As well as performing as The Box Set, Khrushchev and Knife are also involved in curating events, DJ-ing, remixing, filming and designing for all their various activities. ASHA Asha is well known and well-respected in Lancaster’s dance scene, running the very successful ‘Solar’ nights in the city with his compatriot Coderro. Theye recently held a sell-out NYE party at The Farmers Arms. Asha will be performing a live dance PA set with laptop and hardware samplers - an intelligent mix of dark, rolling prog house, psych trance and techno with a few quirky bits thrown in. He will also be providing the post-gig DJ set. Check out some tracks on www.myspace.com/feedbacklancaster |
