metal666 is an unknown quantity at this point
I hadn't come across any of these bands before, and was impressed with the standard of them all, Merkin's guitarist stood out and the set was fun, Vulsellum were very good indeed and had a good chat with their bassist Kate who told me it was only their second gig, I will be following your progress as I think you really stand out. 3rd Born Sun, what can I say, you really know how to get everyone having a fantastic time and I'm not surprised that you have such a strong following, judging by the crowd and a few posts I have read on this forum, I will definitely come and see you again. Unfortunately I missed Brickshithouse, but I'm not a massive doom fan, and had to meet friends.
Well this is my first post on the forum, but I hope to stick around, you seem like a sound bunch of people, and I'd like to keep up with all the gigs going on.

Thankyou for all your good comments, I think I remember who you are, you were downstairs right? Very glad you enjoyed the gig and hope to see you at another

I've just been reading in another thread how it could look unprofessional organising the equipment for a gig in the thread.
I agree with this up to a point, however I have read many previous threads where some of it has been discussed on the forum in the closing days beforehand, as happened for this gig.
A great deal was organised initially behind the scenes via pm's, emails and the phone, but me and Rick found that we ended up eventually having to use the thread to tie up the finer points, either not being able to get through on the phone, or needing to know answers quicker than folk were getting back on myspace for instance.
This didn't bother us in the slightest, as at the end of the day, the gig ran very smoothly, and everyone had the equipment they needed, and I'm sure everyone will agree that it was organised and executed in a professional manner, particularly since neither of us have had any experience at all of organising a gig and for both of us it was only the second gig we have ever performed.
I hope the other bands agree, or are there any suggestions on where to improve in the future as we plan to organise more gigs, with yourselves and/or other bands you are in?
Cheers!

i've always been pretty slack for organising gear for gigs. i did find it funny how gav was going on about which mic's they should be getting, i'd say there's nothing wrong with discussing the basics (amps and kit) on the forum, but maybe stuff like microphones should be left to the pm's.

at the end of the day so long as the bands have it sorted out between them it doesn't really matter where it gets said!

This threads still going? hehe. I thought the gig organisation went well. We had everything we needed and I didnt know of any real problems getting it.

I dont mind people using the threads for organising gear, hell, what else is the thread going to be used for? Other than an advertisement and maybe people finding out who might be turning up to spectate etc
