Damnation Festival Headliners!
![]() EXTREME legends THE HAUNTED and death metal overlords AKERCOCKE will headline this year's DAMNATION FESTIVAL. Ragga-punks SKINDRED and the debauched MISTRESS will join them to complete two stages of uncompromising and diverse metal. The bands mark a massive scoop for the growing UK-focussed feast of metal set to take place at Manchester's Jilly's Rockworld and Music Box on October 15. The Haunted performance will be a UK festival exclusive, while Terrorizer Stage headliners Akercocke will also be making a rare live appearance in Manchester. Festival spokesman Gavin McInally said: "With the exclusive capture of The Haunted, Akercocke and arguably the UK's hottest live band right now in Skindred, Damnation Festival now offers fans the most diverse and genuinely exciting bill the UK will see this year. "Italian jazz, raw punk and extreme death, all by seasoned and highly respected live performers - it's going to be an event to remember. "Despite the legendary big names, we haven't lost focus on why Damnation Festival was born, and again, this year will also see some of the finest rising talent from our shores wow fans come October 15th. "Evile, Kingsize Blues, Head-On, Murder One, Biomechanical and Mistress are a pick of England's finest, and we've even extended a warm invite to two of Scotland's top extreme bands; Man Must Die and Madman Is Absolute." Death-peddling thrashers THE HAUNTED stunned the music world with their self-titled debut. A decade later the Swedes show no sign of relenting. Peter Dolving and his lads will shake off the confines of the studio to prove this in a one-off live date at Damnation. Satanic noisemakers AKERCOCKE will strike the final blow on Terrorizer's metal hordes with a barrage of black metal death, topping a line-up that boasts Stampin' Ground, Ephel Duath and Send More Paramedics. They warned fans: "Manchester beware, we are coming to ruin lives with a crushing assault of necromantic terror blasts and face melting guitar work." SKINDRED will whip up a serious clash of cultures on a Jagermeister Stage by unleashing their awesome mix of reggae and metal with classic anthems like "Nobody" and "Set It Off". Unrivalled enthusiasm and a boisterous frontman have earned them a solid reputation as one of Britain's best live bands. Unfortunately, The Axis Of Perdition have been forced to pull out due to personal reasons, so it's up to depraved sludge mob MISTRESS to sharpen the nasty Terrorizer bill. Monstrous slabs of doom and drunken debauchery big enough to fill the hole left in Iron Monkey's wake, delivered by the godly Dave Cunt and Mick Kenney. Your ears will never be the same again. The second instalment of UK-focussed metal will again take place across two stages in Manchester's Jilly's Rockworld and Music Box. Fourteen bands will grace the heavy JAGERMEISTER Stage and the even heavier TERRORIZER Stage. A Terrorizer spokesman said: "We are proud to once again be involved, as the most brutal metal acts on the planet converge upon Manchester this October for Damnation Festival 2006. "It's one more giant nail in the coffin of corporate rock." Tickets for Damnation Festival 2006 are priced £15 and are on sale now through Seetickets, Ticketline, Manchester's Piccadilly Box Office, and Liverpool's Radio City Box Office. Absolutely fucking gutted about The Axis Of Perdition pulling out. They were the main reason I was going to be going to this.
