GGI festival 15th - 17th September - update line-up
It's Glasgow's turn to celebrate the punk connections between itself, Gronigen and Ireland over the years, except there's no decent venues here so the gig's happening through in Edinburgh. All days at The Subway (Cowgate).
Friday 15th Sept - 7pm £6 Acid Tongue [SCO] The Freebooters [IRE] Constant Fear [SCO] Spoutmouth [SCO] Down to Kill [SCO] Sat 16th Sept - 2pm £8 Fleas and Lice [NL] Runnin Riot [IRE] Easpa Measa [IRE] Skint [NL] T.R.I.B.E [SCO] Atomgevitter [SCO] 20 Bulls Each [IRE] Spam! [NL] Kidd Blunt [IRE] Us vs Them [SCO] Terrordactyl [IRE] Sun 17th Sept - 2pm £8 Mass Genocide Process [CZ] Filthpact [SCO] Afterbirth [SCO] Mongolia [IRE] Droppin' Bombs [IRE] Descent to Hell [NL] Link [NL] Scunnered [SCO] Bud Hoskins [SCO] Happy Spastics [SCO] Amok Attak [SCO] And if you prefer, £20 for the weekend. Can't say the Friday is enticing me at all but Saturday and Sunday will be good craic. Vegan kitchen at the Holyrood Tavern (five minutes walk from the Subway) will be open on Sunday afternoon for the hungry and the hungover. http://www.freewebs.com/ggiedinburgh |

Spoutmouth - guys from Machine Gun Etiquette
Down to Kill - Maija from Miuku, Jamie from Happy Spastics and some others Constant Fear - Joe from Disaffect and some other auld weegies Nae idea about Acid Tongue. If I was going it'd only be to catch up with the Freebooters as they were nice lads when we played with them in Ireland; the evening has next to no musical appeal for me though, so I reckon I'll be giving it a miss. |

Were it in Glasgow I'd probably be out but the prospect of travelling to a different city a day earlier than planned to see bands I'm not particularly into stylistically (not talking about proficiency here) isn't high on my agenda. I better hand in my punk card at the door.
Suffice to say, if you're well into your crusty punk and/or UK82 stuff then the first day will probably hold some appeal to you. There's links to mp3s and so on at the GGI website (see first post). |
