Not done it for years but the "I bought this as a birthday present for a mate, but he's got it already so can I exchange it?" patter usually worked in Virgin. Don't Fopp have a "Suck It And See" policy? I think most places will exchange a recently purchased CD in mint condition if you exchange it for something else of equal value or pay the difference. My, how this thread has been derailed...

this is 50% nice, i am looking forward to taas. but pelican were quite painful to watch the last time i saw them (last year with cave in who were mint). i don't really want to go see a band in fear of falling asleep
