PINUP NIGHTS

PINUPS DJS PLAYING INDIE, PUNK, SOUL AND ELECTROPOP
LEGENDARY PINUPS FANZINE AND BADGE FOR FIRST 100 TO ARRIVE!

The big Pinups news this month is that NME Tour headliners The Automatic (they of the "what's that coming over the hill?" song) will be Guest DJing. Everybody has fond memories of the time Editors DJ'd for us before they went huge so hopefully it will be a similar sort of crazy night with international rock stars, Radio 1 DJs and assorted tabloid hacks being locked out cos the place is too full.

We're also delighted to have booked Wild Beasts (www.wild-beasts.co.uk) to perform live. They're a new band from Leeds and I had to get hold of them after hearing their debut single "Brave Bulging Buoyant Clairvoyants". It was about a million times better than the sub Killers/Arctic Monkeys fare that most bands are serving up at present!

www.musicremedy.com describes the single thus:
"This thrilling debut single will wash the mouth of the current alternative music scene through its jutter jiving urgency, reeling rhythms and soft-on-the-outside-hard-on-the-inside vocals"
Pitchfork says:
"What makes this track work so well then?...the song begs for repeat plays"
The Guardian says:
"Are they going to be huge? Perhaps among fans of astonishing voices, poetry-reading romantics and anyone who watches the local footy team get mullered at home."

Traditionally when we book out of town bands most people hang back in the pub and then show up for the disco. I'm hoping in this case everyone will get adventurous (and with The Automatic DJing waiting too late to come round will probably result in you being locked out)! Support comes from local bands Q Without U (www.myspace.com/qwithoutu) and The Clicks (www.myspace.com/theclicksglasgow) and there will be a Pinups Goody Bag dished out at midnight for whoever answers the top secret tiebreak question with the most amusing answer.

Cheers for reading

John D.
