Seems like a rather large venue for them, should be cool though!

Immense night. Great to be back in the Barras again for the first time since Anthrax*

Eluvium were interesting.

Explosions were spectacular. Faultless set. Can't have been far off sold-out. Nice to see a good use for that most maligned of musical instruments, the tamborine. Bash it off your guitar while it's lying on the floor - it makes a great noise.

Gig only marginally marred by people yapping throughout. One particular stupid bint near me was so bad that a guy standing next to me told her to shut the fuck up, resulting in a lively verbal exchange. What happens? The guy gets escorted out by security (thankfully 3/4 way through the last song so he didn't miss much). Some people just shouldn't leave the house, or breed.

(* Just realised, that makes it sound like the Barrowlands Ballroom suffered from contamination by Anthrax spores. It didn't. I meant the popular thrash metal combo)

Eluvium was ok, but a lot of his stuff just merged into sounding exactly the same. His records are no bad.
Explosions were great. First time I'd seen them, didn't think for a second they'd play Greet Death. Excellent stuff.

I wanted to go to this, after missing them when they played in Edinburgh a couple or so years ago. They apparently had a bad crowd there too, heckled for having slight technical problems. What's the point in paying to see a band if you don't like them enough to pay attention?

Nobody got to see the band in Edinburgh because the band has four members, only three guys played.

Yeah, it wasn't exactly a slight or subtle technical problem. If you know what they sound like, you can imagine how their sound would be affected by one guy not playing anything for the whole set. Were the crowd supposed to pay attention to the absence of his input?

They were still okay but deserved the mild heckling they got and took it sportingly, the guy with the sound issues pantomiming frustration to an amusing effect.

Based on the fact that you both replied with defensive arguments within a minute of each other, would I be right to assume that you were taking part in the shouting?

Sorry, my post was just what I heard from somebody else who was there and thought they played well despite the problems they had. It seems they don't get very sympathetic crowds.

Ugh.

Nah we read this thread together and agree that your sentiment incorrectly reflects the reality of the situation. We certainly weren't heckling them even through, as I mentioned, they would arguably have deserved it. If you go and see a four piece instrumental band you like and one of them can't play, it's not good; especially if you like them.

Listen to them with only the left stereo channel on and see if you like it as much.

Edit: To put it more succinctly to avoid shitting up this thread; with a band like EITS, if you like them just as much with a musician missing you don't like them that much.

Whatever you say.

Like I said, it was somebody else who told me that. Somebody who must have seen the situation differently. Don't take it so personally.
