Penny Broadhurst
A musician, actor, singer, writer, poet and spoken word artist. She lists Billy Bragg, Alan Bennett, Eminem, Take That and Britney Spears among her many influences. Tonight shall be a music set, catchy toe tapping witty pop songs shall be the order of the day, in age where music scenes up and down the country are full of po-faced artists and po-faced art Penny's work sticks out like a lovely thumb.
She has played with the likes of Patrick Wolf (an advocate of her work), Das Wanderlust, Damo Suzuki, Robin Ince, Jo Neary and Frank Turner
The Plimptons
A lazy journalist may describe this band as equal parts Half Man Half Biscuit, The Dickies, MJ Hibbet and The Pouges. However lazy this journo may have been there would still be some truth to these words, now a six headed monster Glasgow’s “premier comedy rock band” continue to delight with their intelligent, often hilarious lyrics and punk attitude.
Ceylan Delikanli
The solo project of the youngest member of Glasgow’s much loved Parsonage choir. Her beautiful songs driven by her ethereal soprano voice have been often said to belie her years, as of this date she has already toured the country and played many key festivals. Whilst she may sing of love and loss staples of “girl with a guitar” music she has a wit and a sparkle to not be pigeonholed into this genre.
Sparky Deathcap
Charming “weird pop” music from London. Has supported Panda Bear and Daniel Johnston, who told him to rename his act to “Happy Duck” For the moment, Sparky’s original moniker stands
There will be surprise cake and fairy lights! Come on down - gig should be brilliaint and a great night out for four mere pounds.
