i like gabba in small doses. quite like some of the stuff on his page, bit of a change! the chances of me being drunk by that time at the gig are low however

Unless they've got a gabber album I don't know about, knifehandchop aren't gabber in the slightest. If this is eraserhead, MySpace.com - Eraserhead - DAYTON, Ohio - Drum & Bass / Jungle / Dub - www.myspace.com/ixtlan808, then eraserhead aren't gabber either.

For reference, this is what gabber sounds like:

MySpace.com - DJ Nosferatu - NL - Hardcore / Techno - www.myspace.com/djnosferatunl

MySpace.com - Ophidian - - Hardcore / Industrial / Techno - www.myspace.com/djophidian

MySpace.com - E-Noid - - Electro - www.myspace.com/3n01d

MySpace.com - Enzyme Records - NL - Hardcore - www.myspace.com/enzymerecords

While unusual, it's not completely unheard of for metal bands to have gabber influences. The Berzerker are a good example.

Likewise, it's not unheard of for Hardcore artists to sample metal or grindcore. Case in point Ad Noiseam

Amazon.com: Hellspawn: Extreme Metal Meets Extreme Techno: Music: Various Artists

The distinction between breakcore and gabba isn't being made very clear here. From what I just listened to of Bong-Ra, I immediately think, breakcore. The other links you (humndislocation) put up, as references, seemed more like what I know as Gabba (which might I add is limited, as the second LastFM offered it to me I dismissed it as bad).

No digz intended, clarification would be good though.

Yeah, it's breakcore, but as it borders on a few genres I thought it was relevant enough to be mentioned.

The Hellspawn compilation is well worth checking out if you can get your hands on it. It's got a class remix of Napalm Death's "Breed to breathe"
