INSTAL 08 – Festival Launch and Exhibition Opening

To launch the festival, come down to the opening of the exhibition, sip a few free whiskies to steel yourself against the cold and then head off with us to take in a couple of the Personal Space events (Nackt Insecten on the tube, and Usurper on Woodlands Road).
EXHIBITION
“Acid action painting. Height 7 ft, Length 12' 6". Depth 6 ft. Materials: nylon, hydrochloric acid, metal. Technique. 3 nylon canvases coloured white black red are arranged behind each other, in this order. Acid is painted, flung and sprayed onto the nylon which corrodes at point of contact within 15 seconds.” - Gustav Metzger
Kristian Buss presents his photographs of the reconstruction of Metzger’s famous action and demonstration on the South Bank.
At INSTAL 08, the father of auto-destructive art, Gustav Metzger will be collaborating with a number of artists and musicians to create the special SELF-CANCELLATION event.
PERFORMANCES
At 7:30pm we'll depart to dig some of the Instal fests PERSONAL SPACE events: boarding the tube to huff on some of Nackt Insecten’s locomotive drones live before freezing your asses off in the company of the Usurper remedial improv tubes while they wig-out in a skip at the site of cartoonist Bud Neill’s Lobey Dosser statue on Woodlands Road. Expect to hit the Halt Bar afterwards for further Bud Neill salutes/ bookending the night with more whisky.
