Calling all Bands!

Howz it goin?

I'll get to the point we currently in the process of starting up a promotions project called "The MoneyTree" the idea is that we're looking for small out of town bands to support Zero theFool (www.myspace.com/zerothefoolband) on a tour of small hired venues such as halls/function rooms and parties.

We would book 2 bands from each area with the aim of paying at least £40 to each based on at least 50 people turning up. We would provide a P.A. and a sound engineer, posters, flyers and as many tickets as you think you could sell.

The money would work as follows: Each band would get their tickets, the money from the first 12 of which would go towards one third of the cost of the equipment and promo stuff which we would have already paid for. £2.50 of each ticket sold after that would go to the band who sold it along with £1 for every ticket sold on the door.

So if both bands sold their 25 tickets beforehand and there were 10 sold on the door, each would get £42.50, and thats still only 50 people through the doors. Also, even if the other band didn't sell as much as you, you'd still get the same money, as you still did your bit. Basically, the more tickets you managed to flog before the gig the better money you would get but even if you only sell your twelve and people only come because of the posters you'll still get your share of the ticket money.

I have sat for hours working it out and I think this is the best way to do so that everyone gets a fair deal and we don't lose any money.

If you're in a band, you know of a suitable venue and you think you could get enough people down to make it worth everyone's while we'd like to here back.

We also need another band. If you know one from school or nearby or whatever who also have a few friends get in contact and fill them in.

p.s. this idea licks baws, instead of spending loads of time working out this scheme, ye should have went to band practice

if you sold 25 tickets and got £2.50 back, wouldnt you have £62.50?

also if both bands sold 25, plus 10 through the door

thatd be 60 people there? (and £72.50 for the bands?)

and this took you hours?

That's not how business works, you can't take none of the risk and then expect to share in the profits.

i know The Unknown have played Glasgow a few times now and taken a whole coach load of peopel with them each time!

doesnt stop this "venture" being utter pish...

the guys in fivefingerdiscount from Aberdeen bring a few folk by coach to the gigs ive played with them, but still i did say "most", i know there are a few which have a good set of folk prepared to travel.
