An expensive mic can cost anything up to 4 grand. 100 quid is cheap whether you like it or not.

Presonus is a good producer (I think) low-mid price range firewire interfaces, preamps, compressors and EQs (as well as a number of other ods and ends)

yeah, i've not heard any of the other stuff, but i've got the central station passive speaker controller and remote, its a genius little thing, means i don't have to cart a mixer around everywhere. Really well designed little box.
