Help with Cubase LE or Acid Pro

i just got a lexicon alpha interface for very basic use

i first tried to use acid pro, but when i tried to record over a drum track i made earlier, all i could hear was thie horrible buzz noise, but when i stopped recording and played the drums or guitar back on there own they were fine.

I tried using cubase le, havent used it before so i dont know much about it. how do you render mp3's/wavs?

I'm not familiar with Cubase LE, but I'm guessing the principle should be the same as Cubase SX or Nuendo.

Create a new stereo audio track in your project, select the track then go to File > Import > Audio File. That should do it, I think.

Doesn't "render" mean mixing down audio, as opposed to importing a new audio track? That's how Abelton Live uses the term anyway.

I have a very shit version of Cubase that came with my sound card.
If the worst comes to the worst, you can play back your recording in cubase, while recording the sound in another application like Audacity or something.

There should be an option for it somewhere though. Possibly under File/Export?

The only reason I couldn't use that in my version of Cubase, is that it only records the audio out, and ignores MIDI and VST instruments.

My apologies, I thought he was needing to import a wav/mp3 file to use in Cubase. Not really familiar with the term at all. Reading back, that makes more sense.

Again, assuming LE isn't too dissimilar, it's fairly simple. There's selection tags at the top of the project window, on the timeline. Drag them to select the range of the song that you want to export (making sure the arrows are pointing the right way, they should point inwardly), then go to File > Export > Audio Mixdown.

Also, in the shitty version of Cubase I have, there's a button to export audio on the master track in the mixer window

cheers for the advice!

i can now render a .wav or an mp3, but theres one problem.

When i play it back, its only 16 seconds long. whereas the actual track in cubase is roughly 3 minutes.

?

Might be that the locators (blue bar at the top of the project window) are only selecting 16 seconds of your project and when you're exporting you have "between locators" (or whatever) selected instead of "export whole project".

That would be my guess. In some versions of cubase they'll show up as bars with little boxes with L and R written on them at the top.
