Sampling stuff

yeo, I've recently been toying about with the joys of the sampler lately, however have an irritating problem/question.

Is it possible, when you sample something and play it on higher keys, instead of it speeding up for it just to increase in pitch?

I know it's a bit of a spo question but I'd appreciate at least a shove in the right direction.

Cheers!

Audacity can do it, also Live has a pitch option that doesn't alter the playback speed.

yeah I'm using Live's "sampler" at the min but I can't figure out what I'm needing to do to achieve this.

I've been fannying about with all manner of controls but its pretty hard to get anything if you only understand what 1/3 of the fuckin things do.

meh.

I don't know how commonplace this feature is in samplers nowadays, but I remember seeing this feature on a tommorows world style program about six or seven years ago! (no joke)

They were using a keyboard to play back the main vocal line from Jamiroquai's "Virtual insanity" on different keys without changing the speed of the sample.

So it is physically possible anyway.
