Problem with computer sound.
I was wondering if anyone can help me. I have a laptop with speakers plugged in. But there is no sound comming out of them.
Yes they are switched on. Yes I have got the volume up on the spekers. I have them plugged into the right hole on the computer. I have the scomputers sound up full. I have unplugged them and switched the system sound to come through the laptops built in speakers. I have also tried different speakers but still nothing. Can anyone help? |

are you sure the sound is turned up in winamp/WMP whatever, aswell as on the volume control on the laptop, if its sound from a CD is the volume turned up on the CD drive bit (like turny bit on or beside the drive)
If its all workin the only thing i could think off is the soundcard being messed up |

are you positive the sound is up on the computer? you might have a volume dial somewhere on the case
are you getting any error messages when you try to play music? are the drivers installed correctly? did the sound work before? have you changed any settings since then? installed new hardware? software? |

we're not saying you are computer illiterate, people just make mistakes is all
right click my computer, go to properties, hardware > device manager. check there's nothing weird going on in the sound, video and game controllers section |

That all seems to be fine. Thats what I dont understand. I havent installed anything new either. I recently wiped my computer and started again, so all the drivers have been installed correctly.
I'm just going to have to get my daddy to buy me a new sound card. Or a new laptop. Although that may just be wishful thinking. |

Control Panel > Sounds And Audio > Audio
Check that your soundcard is selected in the Playback Device part. If it's onboard sound (likely on a lappy) check that the Audio Codec is enabled in the BIOS. |
