If it's not one of the standard fonts, then you're shit out of luck. The only way you can get your site to appear in a non standard font, is to use flash. (assuming you can do that in flash)
Microsoft used to have a experimental tool which would let you embed a font into a website years ago, but nothing came of it. That said, it didn't work particularly well anyway. I couldn't get it to work at all. |

always design your sites using standard fonts... fancy fonts do nothing to your site but make it look shit and work improperly. I'd recommend the flash option, but if you are using flash just to display text then its just as bad as using images to display text, thats a no no, especially if you are making websites professionally, but i dont think you are in this case so i guess its probably ok to use either of these as a work around.
you need to remember that if you have a special font on your computer the chances are that others might not have it, particularly if its a font that you have had to download to use yourself.

Exporting texts as graphics just because you want to use that font is a pain in the arse because to meet usability standards you have to make sure you give it anchor tags and descriptive text.
Even if you don't want to do it from the usability side of things then its important as far as having the search engines include your website in their listings. text is always better than exported font graphics or using flash. As has been mentioned, stick to the standard fonts - Arial, Helvetica, Verdana and Times for your websites. have a look at CSS if your up for it, you'll be surprised what can be done visually with CSS that keeps your text 'Live' and in a form easily understood by search spiders and reading software for the visually impaired. |

No one is going to download and install your font just to look at your website.
Another thing, when you specify what font some text is in, you can seperate several fonts by commas, and the browser will look through each one in order for one that it has. I'm not 100% sure that you can do this in straight HTML, but I'm pretty sure. I know for a fact you can do it if you use cascading style sheets. e.g. <font face="MagicFont, Verdana, Arial, Sans-Serif, Sans Serif">text</font> If the browser can't find MagicFont, then it'll fall back to Verdana, then Arial, then Sans-Serif, and so on, until it finds a font that it has. Also, if you're using a font like Verdana, and want your site to look that way in linux, then put "Sans Serif", or "Sans-Serif" (I forget which) in the list. Otherwise you'll end up with the equivilent of times new roman, and it'll look shit. I don't know what the verdana like font on the mac is called, so you'll have to get someone with a mac to filll you in on that one. |

They did, it's called activeX and it can be used pretty maliciously to execute things onto your machine without your knowledge, because of the way IE works as a core part of WINDOWS WINDOWS |
