ipod shuffle-help!

ok iv put in the software,went thru the set up,it tells me to plug in the ipod shuffle into the pc,then it pops up ipod needs formatted-and so far its been formatting the thing for fucking 2hours! whats going wrong?
i have tryed the option of downloading the instalation software without the ipod plugged in-it works fine but theres no icon for the ipod for transfering music to it! aaaaagggrrrhh im pulling my hair out,can anyone help me please???

It really shouldn't take as long as that to format!!!

I just did a test with mine and it formatted it really quickly.

Uninstall iTunes, then re-install it again. Plug in your shuffle and let me now what options you get.

re-installed it,without the ipod in,poped i pod shuffle in-itunes loaded up you can see my songs but theres no ipod shuffle in my sourse section.

thats a bit shite!

If its brand new ipod, take it back and get it exchanged for another one cause it sounds like its fooked if its saying its taking over 2 hours to format it!

aint you supposed to load it up without plugging it in first?
mine took ages to format buts mines a mini but still 2 hours is a joke to be quite honest. back to the shop!

I think you plugged in the ipod before you were supposed to so probably fucked up the way the drivers work or something (Windows tries to use it's own drivers).

Ummmm... try going to device manager and removing the drivers, delete anything to do with the ipod and start over?

cheers folks it seems to have sorted it self out as iv left it plugged in all day and i now have it working a treat.
