Digital Video Cameras

i am trying to find myself a decent digital camcorder (or similar), i'd prefer one that does night vision and one that will do good quality videos can anyone recommend one? Looking at spending under £400 if possible.

Also is this one any good? i know what to look for in a good Digital camera but not digital video.

Thats a quality camera up there, I would buy it at that price. Didn't see any mention of a NightShot though. You should probably look into one of the cameras that have a built-in DVDRW if you're willing up to £400. They're probably dropping to around that price now.

dude that camera blows

if you want a cam wi night shot get a sony or a canon

also dont get a dvd one cos you can only get 20 minutes of high quality recording to 1 disk

get a mini dv one, possibly the canon mv830i is great value at £349 i think it is or get the sony hc 22 which is also really good

My sister's DVD one gets 30mins per DVD. so

(and it's good quality)

and she uses DVD-RW so doesnt really need to spend lots on media.

Anyway... Listen to mike, he's mr. jessops

stay away from JVC! they fall apart. I had one model that disintegrated twice in three months. I also recommend buying from jessops, they'll match any price you find online, and you can get some real bargains online

hq mode gets you 20 mins per disc, sq gets you 30 minutes and LP gets you 60 minutes

so... lol

Hmm... I never realised that the DVDR's on DV cams were still so shite - 20 mins.. thats pish. Yeah, ignore what I said Doug... fuck the DVD cams... just buy a DV card and a DVDRW for your PC instead (assuming you don't have them already) - will cost about £50.

Aha... so how much space do the big ones have with full quality? I could probably just find out myself seeing as how I'm sitting here at the computer... online. But that's so unsociable... I'd rather someone else told me.
