well i've bin readin all ure posts about this and if gamecube's really are down to only £80 i'm gettin one asap, and as for x-box cant be arsed with them if i want to get some games with really good graphics i'll download some p.c games (halo is comin out for the p.c or so i heard) instead of shellin out couple of hundred quid for a console that in a few years will be replaced by a newer model at double the price

My mate Dug Paton is the biggest Nintendo geek I've ever met. He actually hates the GameCube as well, but because he splashed out so much money on it when it came out, he'll never admit it. The X-Box is a far superior machine. There really is not many good games for the GameCube and I think it's been a step back for Nintendo because to be fair, the N64 was quite decent. Still saying that, the PS1 had it in it's pocket during it's reign. X-Box is the way forward. Spend your hard-earned pennies on one and you'll be happy.

i can't possibly see how the way forward is average, uninspiring games that simply look nice. i mean, when was the last time we saw something truly groundbreaking on xbox? even the best xbox games are simply old ideas executed well (halo, splinter cell, project gotham etc) whereas nintendo are creating entire new genres (pikmin?) and putting new twists on tired old gaming formulae (metroid). they're also using their hardware better - show me something on xbox that's better looking than metroid or Resident Evil 4.
anyway, my point is, nintendo are the ones pushing things forward. microsoft are just playing the usual yank "bigger is better" card, and obviously winning a fair few people over. |

pikmin is nothing bloody like c & c or cannon fodder! the conrol system, for one thing, is entirely different to those kind of games. and when was the last time C&C let you throw one of your soldiers at a big flying guy, to knock the liquid he was carrying out of his hands, so that the soldier could drink the liquid and grow a flower on his head? the only similarity is that you send a bunch of guys into battle, but again fighting is completely different in both games. you don't actually give the pikmin direct orders, they're just animals you kinda...shove in the right direction. it's more like a farming sim or something. so you can go sook a fart oot meh arse.
