just dloaded a smuggled demo video of it and its amazing! it looks scary as heck and the graphics are awsome. I think a lot of people will be either upgrading their existin machines for this one or getting a brand new computer altogether. From looking at this video, the latter will prolly be better. hehe... *rubs hands*

Bleh.
My Athlon 750's still chugging away here. I'm not desperate to play games anymore, I think I might just start playing consoles instead and do work on my compy. Doom 3 would be pretty wicked though ![]() |

there are a few games you must play. I've got to that age too where games arent a major factor in my life. lol. But there are always games that need to be had and played. Like Pong, Pac Man, Doom, Half Life etc. Doom 3 is well on my list like.
I remember playing the Alien mods for the Doom2. Amazing. For such crappy graphics they managed to make the atmosphere pant stainingly good.

i'll miss out on doom3, unfortunately, i don't have a 3dfx card, plus my processor is a puny pentium 3. shame, that. |

I can't wait for Doom3. I've always thought it'd be good to do a new Doom game, now that we have the technology to make it as scary as it should be.
I've not downloaded the leaked demo, but I've seen a video at work, and screenshots, and it looks amazing. The lighting effects look really impressive. Can't wait ![]() |

Duke Nukem series began to get worse and worse with each game they brought out, then they went truely 3D in the last game and it sucked big time. I'm hoping the Doom game follows the same path that Return to Castle Wolfenstien took and execute a successful swith from 2D to 3D graphics, and from the screens it looks like that will be the case. Duke Nukem never really managed the switch effectively and i think most people have forgotten it ever existed.

aye, Duke Nukem Forever did finally come out, and the main objective, again, was to rescue semi naked babes *yawn* and didnt really have any proper story line to it at all. The older style games were ok but the latest were total pants.
I think the first person shooter game was starting to get really stale until the new generation of games came out (Kingpin, Half Life, Unreal Tournement, Quake 3, Return to Castle Wolfenstien, Medal of Honour and soon Doom 3). These games changed the direction completely and introduced a whole new set of features never seen before, greater character interaction, new tools and weaponry, a greater sense of realism and better graphical enhancements. But i dont think these games could have been like that without the technological advancements in hardware at the same time, which always helps. I'm starting to worry that my computer is generating too much heat, and i dont have room for many fans at all. I'm thinking about cutting a hole in the side and fitting an LED fan in the side, that would look cool.
