Firewalls

some people should post up some firewalls they have used etc, and how good they have been.

I highly recommend one called "Kerio personal firewall" i got it from Download.com on a free trial, then got a crack for it. i personally think it's best i've used.
Download.com gave it 4 and a 1/4 stars which is very high rating.

I've never had any problems with:

Zone Alarm (free version) - but some people get problems with their web browser if it's not set up properly.

Sygate Personal Firewall - but i stopped using it because after a re-install, the program wouldnt install.

NVIDIA firewall - Excellent hardware firewall, it's all i need right now.

Currently i'm using zone alarm. The free version, its good and does what i need, but it does take some time getting it configured for your machine and all the applications you use that access the internet.

I've used Blackice Defender and hated it. That is a commercial product.

grr firewalls piss me right off at college!!! every now and again, whenever you try and do something you get that stupid 'access denied at firewall' messege and it doesn't even let you move within a site never mind go to another site. really pisses me off!

if not that
www5.dongtaiwang.com - type in the box that looks like a search enginge the site you want on.

Best one is dongtaiwang i would say, and yes you need the number, if 5 dnt work , use 6 etc..

if they dnt work go on google, get something to use a diff proxy

Zonealarm is a very good firewall from what I've heard

I like Sygate. I used zone alarm for a while but for some reason it suddenly wouldn't let me use any ftp clients and no amount of changing the settings would fix it.

I couldn't be bothered, I figured if the programme was any good I wouldn't have to. Getting lazy in old age, I used to always search out the best software/freeware. Now all I want is something I can install and ignore.
