Resident Evil 4

Hey,
So with this now out on the PS2, anyone played this cracker of a game yet?
I've just made my way through it after playing it constantly for a few days. Just got Adas missions to do now....Poss try it on pro mode when im feeling brave.

yeah, i played it for a weekend straight when it came it for gamecube, only because azpazzagus was too scared to play it on her own.
not that i minded, its an amazing game, the part where you're on the back of the truck and the villagers are chasing you is awesome.

oh aye,
has a few good chuckle moments too when you drop the bastards with the dynamite and they turn themselfs and there buddies into red mist.
The game only lacked two things for me. One was the lack of "i've just crapped myself moments" there was no jumpy bits, or things bursting through walls which was ashame. I also never got as wrapped up in it as i did the other games. What i mean by this is, your on your last bit of health and your running like a fucker....almost as if your trying to save your own ass. I got this all the time playing resi 2 and 3, used to pain like a fucker trying to find that green herb 10 rooms away!
Mind you, what about those graphics? and i still canne believe that alough the game engine had totally changed, it still played like good ol resi.

I've been playing through the Gamecube version of this and it's awesome. I'd agree it isn't as scary as the previous games though, just quite tense when you're having to protect Ashley being grabbed by all the cloaked guys.

The opening bit in the village (as long as you're not playing it on easy) is my favourite opening to any game ever. Fucking incredible amount of panic and tension the first time you do it.

Still, I thought it was just a little bit too long. Anybody else feel the battles got a bit tedious toward the end?

Definitely one of the best three games of last year though (I'd fire Meteos and Mario Kart DS in there as well).

Aye, theres a fair bit of tention when your stuck in that tiny wee cage with one of them.
The Saddler boss wasn't to impressive if you ask me. When the wee shit turned into a monster, that was waaay more impressive.
Im playing through it for my 3rd time now. Im trying to unlock professional mode...

i just have to say the section in the sewer of the castle with the inscet things terrified me. i hate insects, but the noise those bastards made...............
oh, and they turn invisible

4th time round now...Can't help playing it. and your right...i still can't get over the graphics...this really is the way resident evil should be played!

I'm glad there were no big spiders in this one. That one underneath the ice in Code Veronica has scarred me for life.

Yeah, I'd agree with that. Also he wasn't that tough for a final boss. I kept expecting him to come back alive and having to fight him again, as what seems to happen with all final bosses in games. Excellent game though. I'm liking the Mercenaries mini game as well.
