Web site colours ?

Hello all...

Was wondering if i could ask you lot an opinion.

I have made my forum in the last week and went with a black background colour. I think the colours are ok but some ppl think its a bit bright. I have had good points and bad points regarding the colour. Some think its great others say too bright... Obviously I cant please everyone but sometimes ppls graphic cards and the brightness of monitors make all the difference...

Take a look and let me know what u think...

Thanks for taking time out to have a look in advance.

Gemma

i think the colours are ok. The main problem i can see though is that you have more forums than users which is going to slow the growth of your site down.

I don't think there's anything really wrong with your colours. I don't like the purple-cyan gradient, and think that the shade of purple should be a bit darker, but other than that it's fine.

I agree with KJ though, if you want your forum to succeed, you're going to need a LOT less subforums. I'd even go as far to say that having more than one, when you're first starting out, is very risky business.

I'd say the rule is, don't add subforums to a site, until there's so many users talking about a specific subject, that you need to make that subforum to stop them from cluttering up general discussion with that subject.

The purple text is a bit garish on my screen and hurts my eyes when i look at it.

Plus sub-forum comments as above.

other than that it's cool

Alot of sites like this one compete with each other, however most of them also focus on one geographical location before spreading out further so competition can sometimes be pointless when aims are the same; to promote your localles musical talent. Dont be afraid to ask for help. Usually i can tell when one is out to spam and i dont think you are either so i'm willing to offer some advice should you require it. There are a few web designers (pixels-inc) and developers (me) that'll offer some advice.
