It is crap ![]() My 9600pro is way better than it. That card was great when i had my 18" monitor, but now that I have a 24" monster I want something that can push those pixels around with flair and the X1300 doesnae cut it. I'm chucking it on ebay as soon as I get a new card. ![]() |

I would love an X1800 or X1900 but I'm not spending £300 plus++
I've seen X1600's and they are around the £125 mark and reviews have been reasonable. I'm just ina dillema as to whether I should get an older model but top of it's range, or a newer card that is mid range! |

I would say go for an older top of the range tbh, more likely all the crap has bin worked out with drivers and u can get one with extra memory on it to speed up the old pixel shufflidge. My 9800se may be dated but it still does a grand job as long as i keep drivers up2date. Plus the 256mb onboard memory is handy as feck as it does speed up games up alot, newer cards would have 512mb onboard tho so prob beef me silly.

to be honest Col, i recon it'd be well worth it to strech to a 512MB X1800XT OcUK have a powercolor one for £270, I know it's a fair bit over your budget but these cards but it'll last a lot longer than an X1600 or a 6800GS. Especially with a 1900*1200 or something display, I honestly recon it won't be too long before you find yourself saying exactly what you're saying about the X1300 now about the new one if you go for mid-range.
You might be able to make up most of the £70 from selling your X1300 on ebay or something though. At the end of the day, it's up to you what you buy but I recon the 6800GS will need upgraded again quite a long time before the X1800 and so it would be worth it in the long run. |

AARRGGHHH decisions decisions. I might hold off a wee bit longer and scrape together some more cash for an X1800XT then. I must confess having 16 pipelines would be nice!
Goddam me being a tech freak.....sorry, i do believe the phrase to use nowadays is 'enthusiast' |

OCuK still looks like best option The more reviews I read of the x1800XT the more it looks like the right decision. Just put up my Sony Handycam on ebay so hoping to get a decent amount for that. Also remembered my car is in for it's MOT and service on Monday, so that's £90 away from the GFX fund. crappola Last edited by pixelsink : 25th February 2006 at 03:31 PM. |

It's what I've got Col and it's seriously powerful. I'm only on a 1280*1024 monitor but the likes of FEAR and Doom3 go like shit off a stick with everything up full.
The reviews aren't lying. |
