Thumbs up Windows XP Vista Customisation pack

I've just installed this custom pack for XP and it is lovely!!!

If you haven't got it then I highly recommend it. Better than the standard blue and green XP shite.

it's all glossy and black with some lovely neon and glow efects to tabs and buttons but done tastefully and not over the top.

here is a SCREENSHOT of my desktop. It is at 1920x1200 so if your screen res is lower you'll have to scroll a bit.

you can get it HERE 50MB Download

Get it NOO!

There are a few different start menu skins it uses and on some of them the buttons don't work properly. Right click on Desktop>Properties>Appearance and from the Color Scheme dropdown choose Vista Startmenu 32NB or 48NB (i find 48NB crops the item names in the start menu so I stick with 32NB)

The shutdown/restart button will be cropped but you can still see it to use it.

Yeah, it is liveable, there are a few other glitches which i can cope with, one is when i vew files in FILMSTRIP mode, the thumbnail bar is a little obscured.

I've been trying to find out from some forums if there are fixes but no joy yet. I'll post if I find anything.

there is a windows vista sound pack which replaces the xp sounds.

get it here http://themes.belchfire.net/index.php?download=5212

it overwrites your xp ones, so if you want to put back the XP ones at a later date then make a copy of your media folder C:WINDOWS\media before installing.

10MB download

The shell is the part of the operating system that displays all the nice things like windows and stuff. He's asking whether it actually replaces the part of windows that displays windows/text/windows controls like text boxes, drop down lists, etc, or whether it's just a theme that looks a bit like vista.

The shell has been explorer.exe since the days of windows 95, but it was program manager before that. (you could make program manager the shell in windows 95 by changing a line in windows.ini, although why you would want to do that is beyond me)
