Adobe Premiere Pro Help
I'm having a problem with some video editing I've been doing using Adobe Premiere Pro and was wondering if anyone on here has any experience with the program?
The main problem I can't seem to figure out a solution to is that whenever I edit and save my footage the size of the video is very small and I can't find any way to make it full screen. The source footage is full screen but it seems to reduce in size whenever I import it into Premiere Pro. I've looked through all the options but can't seem to find anything that allows me to change the size. Is there something really option I'm missing? |

When you say that its smaller when you import it into Premiere Pro, do you mean on the monitor and source windows? Or do you mean when you open it up outside the programme after you've edited it and exported it as a final movie?

Sorry, didn't make that too clear. Once I've exported the movie and open it in a different program it is smaller than I want it to be and I can't make it any bigger.

What are you exporting it as? If you want full size AVI, make sure that the screen size in the export settings dialogue box that appears when you go to File>Export is set to 720x576 and is at 25iPAL for broadcast standard. This is best if you're going to open the video up in Encore or another DVD editing package, as if you compress it any other way, you might have problems. Also Encore will encode AVI into MPG2 for you anyway, so just make sure you export from Premiere to AVI.
You'll be able to change your export settings either in a dialogue box that will open up when you select File>Export or it will be in the File>Project Settings or User Settings bit. |

That's exactly what I've been doing but with no luck at all. I'm exporting it as an AVI with the same settings you mentioned.
Could it be anything to do with the process of importing the original video files into Premiere Pro? I've been editing together several different recordings from my camcorder. I've been taking the video files from my camcorder using the Sony program that came with it, then importing those files into Premiere Pro. |

It could be. You'd be best to do it all in Adobe Premiere Pro cos Sony make shite programmes for their equipment. To do it in premiere just go to File>Log And Capture and you'll be able to do it that way. Just make sure you have the default settings to PAL when you do.
When the log and capture window opens, youd need to mark in and out points. These determine where adobe premiere will start taking footage from on teh tape and when it will end. The buttons look like brackets, sort of like this {} for in and out respectively. Once you've marked your clip, click on log clip and give it a name in the dialogue box. THis will essentially save your selection but it wont actually record it yet. Do this process for all the clips you need from your tape (if there is more than one) and then go to file>batch capture, which will capture all the clips ins and outs you selected on that one tape (just make sure you only do a tape at a time tho). This will give you time to either watch over the footage, or go and have a fag or something cos it can take quite some time (as long as the footage itself) If you need to capture the whole clip, it might be quicker to just rewind the tape and the click on the record and then the play button (premiere 1-1.5). I dunno whether or not its the same for 2 if thatts the version you have, but it'll either be that or Capture Now. All you need to do is then press ESC when you've got what you want and its done. Just make sure that everything is set up correctly in the Project Settings dialogue box under Capture Scratch (capture scratch is where your footage will be saved to). Hope this helps, if you have any more problems, just gimme a shout ![]() |
