Macs makes removing software much easier than the rubbish that i had to endure getting rid of Quicktime yesterday

but i doubt ill move away from XP until Vista is stable and working with my current hardware drivers sufficiently

Vista-32 probably already works stably with your current hardware, and to be honest Vista-64 is fine for me too. It's just odd peripherals that have no support in V32.

Also, that's funny the example you give for finding it hard to remove software on a PC is apple software.

yeah i did see the irony in that

ive never had enough problems with windows to move away from it, plus a lot of the issues i do have, i cause!

im just a little cautious as when i got XP on the release date it was buggy as hell and it annoyed me (kept crashing during championship manager!!)

do like the looks however of Vista compared to the cartoon-ish XP

well dont buy and rely on a brand new operating system then, there's always going to be teething problems.

Personally, i've been using Vista since Beta1 which was buggy as hell and i didn't like it much but beta2 and RC1 have been perfectly usable operating systems, I've not had any viruses on my computer for years and to my knowledge I've never been hacked (i'm not exactly a prime target, noone would want anything that's on my computer).

I just like the fact that people like mcafee have built their businesses around microsoft software and now microsoft want to try and take care of their own security, mcafee and symantec are pissed off. If MS get it right, there will be no need for 3rd party software like mcafee AV and to be honest I don't see why MS should be obliged to provide them with the business, they started up because MS had flaws, now MS want to get rid of the flaws themselves.

This is just my opinion, if i'm wrong, i'm willing to listen to your side. as long as you look like you know what you're saying.

PS i know nothing about business law

i agree with what your saying actually, although if MS dont get rid of these flaws, and with their stance on the recent IE bug, im worried as to once a flaw is spotted how quickly they react, mcafee and symantec are pretty on the ball with updating their security for flaws but its yet to be proven to me that MS are as quick acting. sometimes they seem to refuse to patch things quickly as its an admission they got something wrong.

Ideally id like to have everything incorporated into my OS, without having to install firewalls/anti-viruses/anti-spyware software and make sure they are up-to-date and running efficiently.

and id just built myself a new pc in the days before the release of XP and decided to just install it then, a mistake i wasnt quick to return to with the release of Vista hence my caution at going with it.

im not one of these "i hate microsoft" people, in fact in more in the "i hate mac's" category, i like the look of them buts thats it. ive had Windows since 3.1 and the good percentage of issues is with things ive done myself, learning new things, deleting things i shouldnt!
