Some sites have recently had some stuff about Half-Life 2 on them. Here's some of the stuff that's been said:
» Half-Life 2 is scheduled for a September 30th release. » Yes, you're still Gordon Freeman, and yes, the story assumes you went to work for the G-Man. » Half-Life 2 takes place in a European city called "City 17." » Headcrabs will be back! Although some of the Xen aliens will be your friends? » Barney is back. And so is Half-Life's original writer, Marc Laidlaw. » While the new engine has all sorts of fancy features, it's still designed to work on lower-end machines. Apparently a 700mhz processor and a video card capable of running DX6 is enough, although a 2ghz with a GeForce4 is recommended. » The girl in the promo art is named Alyx, a daughter of a scientist who factors into the story somehow. She's not playable. » Scripted Sequences will be more interactive. » Half-Life 3 is planned, so expect another cliffhanger ending. I was just wondering what everyone thought about this. Personally I thought the first game was awesome and just reading this is getting me excited about the 2nd. I think the most significant thing is the bit about it being designed to work on lower end machines which is smart since that's probably one of the reasons the original sold so well, it ran on a minimum spec of something like 166Mhz. This is probably better than what the people behind Doom 3 are doing cause lets face it, how many of us out there actually have the equipment to run it like it should be run? I think I could probably get away with running Doom 3, just, but I think I'll probably give it miss unless i get a new graphics card. As for Half-Life 2 ![]() |

I'd imagine HL2 and Doom3 will probably run pretty well on any graphics card that supports vertex and pixel shaders, so that's Geforce3ti or above, or Radeon 8500 (I think). The Geforce3 ti is quite cheap now. Hardware support for the graphics features is probably one of the biggest factors in how fast they'll run. A bit more RAM would help too.

You guys huvnae seen the movies yet??? FFS, get on emule and search for Half-Life 2, try and get the 200Mb .mov one for quicktime, it's a good resolution 25 minute video of HL2 carnage and it makes me dribble just watching it
![]() Gordon is chatting to a scientist when he brishes up against a desk, the scientists monitor falls off the fucking desk and the scientist (in the same HL1 voice) says "Gordon! Do be careful!". FUCKING SWEETAS! |

i came very close to buying a green xbox over the weekend. But i still like the idea of being able to play online simpler than with the console, plus the mods and stuff you can get for PC versions of games is always a plus. But then again, the pick up and play of the console is always going to keep it on par with the pc machines.
