Editing songs on Windows Media Player

Me and 3 of my crew are going on holiday in 3 weeks and I'm in charge of the sounds for the ghetto.

There are a few songs that I've downloaded from CD's to Windows Media Player that I'd like to stick on the CDR's when I make up the comps.

However, they've got 'shite' (for lack of a better explanation) either at the end or at the start of them which makes the tracks last something like 10 minutes, when the actual song only last 3-4 minutes eg.
Pennywise 'Bro Hymn'
ATDI 'One Armed Scissor'
Sisters Of Mercy 'Temple Of Love'

What I'd like to be able to do is to 'edit' the songs and take off the 'shite' start/end bits and then be able to burn the edited versions to the CDR's.

Anyone got any ideas ?

Yeah, download the Audacity audio editing program and edit the mp3 files. This will only work if you've ripped the music in mp3 format.

http://audacity.sourceforge.net/download/

The absolute best way to do it is to rip the files as WAV files, edit the WAV files, and burn them to disc, because if you edit the mp3 files then you'll probably lose a bit of sound quality.

The program CD-Ex will allow you to rip CDs to WAV files http://sourceforge.net/projects/cdexos/
