Funny, but I'd be surprised if Microsoft cited "coding" as one of the recommended uses of that feature. Plus, if you're using voice recognition, you really shouldn't say "thank you" every time the computer does something.

To be fair though, speech recognition is far from a trivial problem, and it's not something that we've really mastered yet.

Besides which, anyone trying to code using text to speech is a masochist.

I think I could have probably got it to produce that document in about 40 seconds (which is still too long to be practical).

I wrote this post using vista's voice recognition - it works pretty well actually.

Probably not a great idea for writing in perl though.

Actually watching the video, it seems to pretty much what you would expect from what he is saying.
